KNOX HUGHES - CAMERA
Knox Hughes is a unique voice combining a passion for filmmaking and film history
with a sensibility born of the values he learned in the San Francisco Bay Area.
After graduating with a degree in Film Studies from the University of California,
Santa Barbara, Knox Hughes relocated to Los Angeles. Having created a foundation of
burgeoning experience through numerous college internships, Knox first found
employment as an assistant at the William Morris Agency. While working for a Senior
VP and Agent in the Motion Picture Literary Department, Knox was afforded the
opportunity to both meet and learn from actors, writers, and directors, such as Diane
Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Angelina Jolie and Agnieszka Holland.
Knox then joined Will Smith Enterprises, the music and film production company of
actor/rapper Will Smith. While working for Will Smith, Knox saw firsthand the
development of numerous projects with various screenwriters, such as Ron Bass
(RAINMAN) and Shonda Rhimes (creator of GREY’S ANATOMY, PRIVATE
PRACTICE).
In early 2000, Knox left Will Smith Enterprises to form the film production company
Fuzzy Bunny, Inc. As one-half of Fuzzy Bunny, Inc., Knox Hughes worked hands on
with the Japanese-British co-production BROTHER, directed by Golden Lion Award
winner Takeshi Kitano (HANA-BI). Fuzzy Bunny also developed and produced the
PAR/MTV film CROSSROADS, which starred Britney Spears, Kim Cattrall, Dan
Aykroyd, and Zoe Saldana.
Shortly after the completion of CROSSROADS, Knox left Fuzzy Bunny with a camera
and a editing system to pursue the dual crafts of production and post-production.
Over the next few years, Knox worked as an editor and cinematographer in both
documentary and narrative films. As an editor, his work included the music video
CAN’T GET ENOUGH and the documentary BEATLES STORIES. As a
cinematographer, he twice shot the cross-country ultra-cycling event Race Across
America (RAAM) for NBC Sports and the Minor-League FOOTBALL DOCUMENTARY.
In 2006, Knox wrote and directed the short film LARRY EDGERTON, which went on
to be featured at the Short Film Corner at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, at the 2007
Palm Springs Int’l Short Film Fest Film Market, and the 2007 LA Shorts Fest.
Since 2008, Knox Hughes has worked with a variety of Production and Post-
Production companies on a range of projects. During 2009, Knox edited Seasons 2 & 3
of the Fox FuelTV reality show The Adventures of Danny and The Dingo.
In early 2010, after directing the web series KNIFE PARTY AT NIKO’S, Knox
travelled to Canada and Alaska camera operating for Season 4 of The Adventures of
Danny and The Dingo.
Working again in Post-Production, Knox edited a network
rebrand campaign for The Hallmark Channel, mobile content for StarGreetz starring
Verne Troyer, an internal spot for Nike and a national commercial for Ovation TV.
With many Production and Post-Production projects in development, Knox Hughes
continues to follow his passion for storytelling and entertainment wherever it may
